PORT-AU-PRINCE — The Rhum Barbancourt Foundation has announced the suspension of all its social activities for the population of Haïti’s Cul-de-sac plain. This decision comes after a fire ravaged eight hectares of land in several sugar cane fields following renewed clashes between gangs in the area.

"We continue to monitor the security situation day by day to determine when it will be safe to reopen activities," said the Rhum Barbancourt Foundation in a statement. "Our primary concern remains the safety of our employees, their families, and the surrounding communities of Barbancourt."
