On  Jan. 4, the Dominican army arrested nine Haitians in Pedernales transporting “guaconejo” wood, better known in Haiti as bois chandelle (candlewood)..  Essential oils are extracted from this plant produce perfume. A Native Son’s Return Home After The Earthquake To Heal Haiti’s Youth

It’s Saturday afternoon in the Port-au-Prince community of Delmas 75. The music ministry of Rendez-Vous Christ Church is practicing, belting out the high-energy Hezekiah Walker gospel song, “Every Praise.” Throughout the church there’s a buzz of activity as young adult men, all members of the church, install electrical lines, lay down flooring, check on the multimedia technology, and pray in the corners. They are laying hands on the very church that has laid hands on them. OAS Secretary General On Official Visit To Haiti

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs announced in a press release that Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), arrived in Haiti on Monday, Jan. 6 and is scheduled to meet with President Jovenel Moïse, the Diplomatic Corps and various other political actors including the senator, Joseph Lambert. Haitian teen wins $20K in Digicel’s ‘Shake to Win’ Contest

On Jan. 6, Digicel announced the winner of the  month-long ‘Shake to Win’ Christmas campaign.. Haitian teenager is the lucky winner taking home a whopping US $20,000.  Eighteen-year-old Emerson (last name purposely withheld) is an amateur soccer player. Over 3,800 individuals impacted in car accidents between 2018 and 2019

Garnel Michel, coordinator of the Haitian Technical and Operational Services STOP-Accidents announced Monday that between Dec. 31, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2019, 2,260 traffic accidents were reported on the roads in Haiti.  Resulting in 3,837 victims: 520 deaths and 3,317 injured. Continue reading
